Shamanic Studies

What are Shamanic Studies?

Introduction to shamanism

Shamans have been around in recorded history since the beginning. There are cave paintings of shamans helping the people, finding game and asking for blessings for a good harvest. Shamanism is for anyone who has a good heart and a love for the planet as well as all of its peoples.

Shamanic journeying is an altered state of consciousness wherein you enter a realm called "non-ordinary reality." By journeying, you can gather knowledge and perform healing in ways that are not accessible in ordinary waking reality.

Shamanic healing is a process whereby a person brings in the eternal source on behalf of the client. One of the best ways I have heard from an old medicine woman is “Call god in, and get out of the way.”  Shamanic work has helped millions of people for more years than can be counted.

Shamans use drums, rattles; they sometimes burn dried plants such as cedar, sage and lavender. All of these affect the person in a positive way to promote healing and balance.

Shamanic groups gather to promote well being and bring balance to their culture. Indigenous people have been gathering together to pray for crops, to help each other achieve balance and better the world around them.
