One of the first steps in becoming self empowered is to find where you have given your power away. Take a serious look at your life. Is it very close to the way you want it in all areas. Do you have the job you want? Do you have the relationship you want? Do you have the kind of kids you want? Are you happy where you are living?

Start with a realistic assessment of what you have in your life right now. If you need to make a list, then do it. List everything from your relationships, to the house you have, to how much money you have. This is your starting point. You can draw a line down the middle of the page if you like and separate where you are from where you will be. Each item that is on the list will show you an area that needs some attention.

The next step is to see where you are giving up your power to someone or something. This is not to state, that having a balanced relationship with someone is giving up your power. If you do the cooking and someone does the cleaning this is an equal energy exchange. If you do the cooking and the cleaning and the sorting and the putting away of the dishes and all the buying of the groceries and work a 40 hour week and have another person in the house who is an adult who does nothing then I have to say you are putting out a lot of energy.
 
Ask yourself "where am I giving up total control?" You will find areas where you are giving up your power.

I had someone tell me that the government has total control over them. I asked if they voted. I asked if they ever wrote their congressman. I asked if they ever listened to the news. I asked if they every discussed their viewpoint with others.

You do have a choice and a choice made with effort following is power. You can change your life from what it is now to what it can be. If you want it to change overnight then you need to make radical changes over night.

Here are some areas where you may be losing power:


Associate friendships where you are listening for hours and are drained at the end of conversations. A job that you are working very hard and are not making enough to make ends meet. An abusive relationship Kids who are very difficult to manage. The television set, when you are more worried about fear than enjoying a peaceful walk. Wasting energy on diet fads rather than reading up what you can and should not eat.

Here are some useful things to do to limit the loss of power.

Limit the amount if time you spend on the phone with associate friends. You can tell them you have something important to read that has to be done before tomorrow. You can even stop by this website if you like for a refresher. If you talk 4 times a week and are drained, then talk 2 times a week. Get caller ID if you have to. Maybe its time to get some skills for a new job? Update your resume. Make some new contacts and the preparations to move on.

If you are in a relationship that no longer serves a good number of your needs or is balanced good and bad its time to move on. Either fix the problems or move away from them. Withdraw if you have to a little at a time. Get yourself busy with other things until you don't have time for the bad relationship. Move on. Move out. Get some help. Tell friends and family about it. Call the cops if you have to. Get some books on how to manage your kids. Stand your ground. Be a parent not a dishwater towel. Turn off the fear programming and negativity of the television set. After a few days you can catch up with the news if you like.

Have you every noticed that only positive things you see on the television are ways for people to separate you from your money?


Eat healthy and exercise. There is no magic bullet. Nothing can taste as good as looking good feels.

Pay your bills on time. There is no sense paying someone extra for something you could have taken care of before.

7-9       Great! With a few key tools and some more effort you should be able to have very close to the life you have always wanted.

4-6       How does having only about half of what you could have sound to you? It sounds like you need the tools and understanding on what you need to do to start having real change in your life.

1-3       There is room for serious improvement. There are many things you will need to get back into control and its time to get moving before things get even more challenging

0          It is time to pick one of the above and focus solely on fixing it. Your life is certainly not the way you want it, if you are even sure what you want. It is time to get every resource you can get a hold of and get to applying them.

 

All of the above can be improved upon. It will take some effort on your part. Get the tools, get the materials and go make something you can believe in.
